The answer to the question, "Am I going to die?"
A New York City Emergency Medical Technician gave this TED talk about his epiphany in handling the question, "Am I going to die?"
In his talk, he spoke of three patterns he identified in the dying over many years of witnessing critical patients final moments before their lives ended.
In the final moments of people’s lives, they experienced a:
- Desire for forgiveness
- Desire to be remembered
- Desire for validation that their life had meaning
It’s the smallest actions in your life that will likely matter most when you die. Some say that the way you feel when you die will be that of the nature of your outlook on life while living. A centered, compassionate, altruistic way of living will lead to a calm, fulfilled moment of death with acceptance and grace.
What will you regret at the end of your life? What will you wish you had done? Who in your life needs to be reminded that you love them before you don't have the opportunity to do so?
Love on. Be compassionate. You are shaping your legacy every moment you breathe. Be good, be joyful, enjoy your life.
